The Fantastic Four finally arrive in the Ultimate universe as a team of teenagers with both Reed Richards and Sue Storm employed in a government think tank led by Sue's father, Franklin Storm, at the Baxter Building. While experimenting with teleportation technology through an area between dimensions called the N-Zone, the traditional four plus Reed's rival, Victor van Damme, are mutated resulting in fantastic powers.
While originally created by Ultimate founders Bendis and Millar, the series was continued by noted sci-fi author Warren Ellis and received much acclaim for the inclusion of cosmic sci-fi elements in the later work of Mike Carey. Mark Millar returned midway through the series for a collection of stories by distinctive artists Jae Lee and Greg Land. |
