X-Men
When Professor Charles Xavier discovered that he was just a small part of the beginning of the next stage in human evolution, he founded a school dedicated to the protection and education of mutants, but together they became something else. Challenged by a world that hates and fears them, they became the X-Men, dedicated to peaceful co-existance between human and mutant.
In beginning with a class of five teenage students, the X-Men fought the likes of Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants, the Juggernaut, and the Sentinels. Yet when they became adults, their roster was changed to include an internationally and interracially diverse cast. These all-new, all-different X-Men would travel the stars in the Phoenix Saga and glimpse the future in Days of Future Past. They faced genocide in the Mutant Masscre and the end times in Inferno. The further they went, the more they grew with sister teams such as the New Mutants, X-Factor, and Excalibur. In the nineties, the X-Men experienced unparalleled success when the divergent teams reunited to form a new classic era, ultimately leading to the dark alternate reality of the Age of Apocalypse followed by the coming of Onslaught and the totalitarian nightmare of Operation: Zero Tolerance. The Xavier School finally went public and acknowledged their relationship with the X-Men, but this was shortly before the decimation of the mutant population and their flight to Utopia. Following the dramatic conclusion of Avengers vs X-Men, Xavier is gone and his children are divided, but his dream remains. |
