Blinded in a heroic act and orphaned at a young age, Matt Murdock overcame his disability by training with an enigmatic old blind ninja simply called Stick. While becoming a defense attorney to honor the wishes of his father, Matt Murdock spends his nights as the vigilante Daredevil, guardian of Hell's Kitchen. Yet in the battle against organized crime, he becomes a part of their world and while he never fears for his life, he often fears for his soul.
Debuting briefly in gaudy yellow, Daredevil was, nonetheless, a crime noir character from the start. Although baring a passing similarity to Spider-Man, Matt Murdock took a serious look into the world of law and organized crime. Like any crime noir, Daredevil's adventures are defined by the women in his life. He briefly became partners with Black Widow, then faced the return of his childhood sweetheart as the assassin Elektra, before the betrayal Karen Page in Born Again. More recently, Matt Murdock was outted to the press as Daredevil and spent time in jail before descending to madness in Shadowland, but he continues to beat the odds and keep his sense of humor. He remains the man without fear.
