Following Crisis on Infinite Earths, Batman's continuity changed very little, however his origin was retold and refined by the pulp noir talent of Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli. This featured a much more realistic and vulnerable Batman as he learns to become a hero, but perhaps more importantly, it shows the life of a young Jim Gordon as he struggles to survive as part of the corrupt Gotham City police force.
This era also features the death of recent sidekick, the brash Jason Todd, and the arrival of the next Robin, the more intellectual and restrained Tim Drake. This was also the last series to feature Barbara Gordon as Batgirl following the events of Batman: The Killing Joke. |
