Debuting in All-Star Comics #8, noted psychologist and radical feminist William Moulton Marston told the story of Diana, princess of the Amazons who have lived in paradise hidden from man's world for thousands of years. The story begin when US Air Force pilot Steve Trevor crash lands on the island. As the first man on the island, Queen Hippolyta beseeches the gods who command her to declare a champion to bring the soldier to America and there to defend liberty and womankind.
Wonder Woman soon featured in Sensation Comics where she was joined by Etta Candy, Wonder Woman's biggest fan head of the sorority known as the Holliday Girls. Also introduced was Doctor Poison, a female assassin who disguised herself as a man. |
