When Alan Scott discovered a magic ring and matching lantern, he became the first of many heroes to bare the name Green Lantern. Although unrelated to the origins of the later characters, future stories would retroactively imply a connection.
Although the series introduced prominent DC villains Vandal Savage and Solomon Grundy, Scott did not have a regular nemesis, but he did have a supporting cast including a comedic sidekick named Doiby Dickles, an early love interest in Irene Miller, and finally a wife in Molly Maynne. |
